Poem 5.
mute song of beauty
mute
song of beauty is heard
where moth and bird are prey to prowlers of the night
are you born of godly fire
were you spawned from matter dead
are starred angels robed in velvet
speak out pure silence
awake my deafened ear
is the sun your cauldron mother
were you memory in the dust of time
does your beauty last forever
answer my heart love poet
reveal your paean of secret joy
why do we in beauty's gaze know bigot thief and hate
why do we taste the lust for power and hear discordant lie
are there spectral wars eternal in the voids beyond the
sun
brief shining burst of light divine
illumine vanity as root of all disease
give voice to hope
bring song to soul
and teach the peace and mystery of your radiant grace
