Poem 4.

in blind light of day

in blind light of day and black shroud of night his quiet eyes mock time

the little blue god stood mute and stone silence filled the void

the roamer asked is this my home is this my world

are words enough to ask for truth, are we but shade and shadow

is yours a game of cosmic jest and ours the absent joke of nothing

the flesh blue sovereign held fixed and frozen

his somber gaze inflamed the night and deafened silence roared with sound

my lustrous worlds rule dark and light and ethers fill the voids

you hunger as a fool for worlds you cannot touch or know

and ignore the marvel of the home which gives you birth

how is it you see beauty and know rapture, but claim the right to blind and starve

why do you crave pleasure and the creed of gold, but deny the poor and license warring strife

are you grander than the parent earth that gives you form and life

are you not the chosen stuff of suns and stars and glories of the night

the universe is mine tin cosmic wheel and heavens cease

earth's shimmering sapphire garden is paradise and gift

this gift is yours, your day is now, fulfill the dance of joy

your sacred right is life itself, to love, to pray, to choose

do honor to the will of gods, and trust the message of the wise

choose to soar with angels, choose hope, choose love, choose peace
